Dr. Mary C. DeMello, DMD
General Dentist
Dr. Mary C. DeMello graduated with a B.S. in Biology from St. Anselm College and is a 1986 graduate of Tufts University School of Dental Medicine (TUSDM). She completed a general practice residency program at Tufts New England Medical Center in 1987 and remained on staff with the program until 1993.
Dr. DeMello has been involved in organized dentistry at both the state and local levels since entering the profession. She is a member of the American Dental Association (ADA) and has chaired the Committee on Dental Practice in Massachusetts for 16 years for the Massachusetts Dental Society (MDS). Following that position, she chaired the Standing Committee on Legislation and Government Affairs for 4 years. Starting in June 2021, she will become the Region 4 Trustee for the MDS, serving a 2 year term, representing the districts of Metropolitan and Middlesex. For her regional dental meeting, the Yankee Dental Congress, Dr. DeMello has participated, at various times, on the scientific, exhibits, general arrangements and hospitality committees for over 25 years. In recognition of her efforts, she was awarded the Armen Nalband Award for Volunteerism in 2012, by the MDS and the Robert L. Burke Award in 2016, by the Metropolitan District Dental Society. To continue to expand her dental knowledge and skills, Dr. DeMello is a member of the Central New England Dental Research Group and Spear Study Club.
Dr. DeMello is an active alum at St. Anselm Collge and TUSDM. She is presently Annual Fund Co-Chair for the Capital Campaign and Co-Chair of the Dental M Club at Tufts.
Dr. DeMello lives in Medfield and has two grown children, Nikki and Zac. In her spare time, she enjoys running, biking (just about any outdoor activity), going to the theatre and travel.
Dr. Dayana Escobar, DDS, MMSC
Prosthodontist
Dr. Escobar received her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Universidad Central de Venezuela in 1999 and New York University College of Dentistry in 2012 and she completed her AGE Prosthodontic & Masters in Medical Sciences in 2015 at Harvard Dental School of Medicine.
Dr. Escobar was awarded with the Honor Clinical-Aesthetic Dentisty at New York University College of Dentistry, New York and Nila and Joshi Award for Fixed Prosthodontics Outstanding Achievement, New York Academy of Oral Rehabilitation in May 2012. She was one of the first students involved on the first surgical implant course in her prosthodontist residency at Harvard under Dr. Schnitman mentoship in 2012-2015.
Dr. Escobar mainly focuses on restorative dentistry, crowns, bridges, dentures, full mouth rehabilitations, dental implants, esthetic and digital dentistry.
Currently Dr. Escobar is lecturing on Department-Restorative Dentistry and Biomaterial Sciences of Implants at Harvard Dental School of Medicine.
She lives in Westwood and has one child, Pablo. When she is not practicing Dr. Escobar enjoys time with her son and her husband, church activities and traveling.
Dr. Sarah Shih, DDS, MS, DMSc
Periodontist
Dr. Shih received her Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree from the University of California, San Francisco in 1987. She earned her Certificate in Periodontics at Baylor College of Dentistry in Waco, Texas. She graduated from Harvard School of Dental Medicine with a Doctor of Medical Sciences Degree in Oral Biology in 1997.
Dr. Shih has clinical experience in a wide range of services including non-surgical therapy, implant placement, crown lengthening, connective tissue grafts, ridge augmentation and biopsy procedures.
In 2015, Dr. Shih received the American Academy of Periodontology Educator award at Harvard School of Dental Medicine. She joined the staff at Dr. DeMello's office in 2015.
Breana, CDA
Certified Dental Assistant
Breana graduated from Tri County RVTHS dental assistant program in 2016. She joined Dr. DeMello's practice as a Licensed Dental Assistant in September of 2018 and completed her certification exams in 2020 to earn her title as Certified Dental Assistant. She has been the chairperson for the dental assisting program at Tri County RVTHS since 2022.
She loves spending time with her husband, David and 2 cats, Ozzy and Mac. She and David enjoy going to Red Sox games, traveling and camping.
Miche, DA
Dental Assistant
Miche has been working with Dr. DeMello for the past 18 years. She graduated from Quincy College with a degree in Dental Assisting in 2000. Prior to that Miche was working in the medical field as a CNA.
She is married with three children and lives in Stoughton. Her hobbies include reading, watching movies and attending plays.
Devi, CDA
Certified Dental Assistant/ Periodontal Assistant
Devi is from Nepal, came to the United States in 1995 and earned her citizenship in 2004. She regularly returns to Nepal with her son and daughter to visit her family and for trekking in the Himalayas.
Devi graduated from the Massasoit Community College Dental Assistant Program in 1999. She is DANB certified and registered with the Massachusetts Dental Society. In addition, she is a licensed Registered Nurse. Devi is a newly certified 200-hour yoga instructor and is pursuing her 500-hour certification. She is currently teaching at the YMCA and offers private and small group classes in her home yoga studio.
Immediately after graduation, Devi began her employment with Dr. Mary DeMello as a general dental assistant and in 2015 she partnered with Dr. Sarah Shih as a specialized periodontal assistant.
Devi has a holistic mindset and enjoys preparing culturally diverse farm to table organic meals originating from her garden. She challenges herself by completing jigsaw puzzles and unwinds walking her rescue dog.
Carol, RDH
Dental Hygienist
For two-thirds of her life Carol has been providing quality dental care for her patients. After graduating from Mt. Ida College with a degree in Dental Assisting, she went on to receive a degree in Dental Hygiene from Cape Cod Community College. She doesn't see her patients as people coming in for an appointment but as friends coming for a visit.
She has 2 adult children, a daughter and a son, and enjoys spending time with them doing all things nautical. Living on the South Shore, she can be found driving to area beaches to get that perfect sunset picture. Photography is her passion as she sees the beauty in all things.
Her many hobbies include knitting, sewing and restoring furniture. She makes and sells rosary wrap bracelets and has an Etsy shop with over 300 sales in 40 states!
May, RDH
Dental Hygienist
May is our newest hygienist, taking over after our dear hygienist Terri's much deserved retirement! She is a proud graduate of the Foothill College Dental Hygiene Program, where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree with high honors. Prior to becoming a dental hygienist, she worked as a certified dental assistant for eight years, gaining valuable experience and a deep appreciation for patient care.
She is passionate about her career and truly enjoy connecting with patients. Her goal is to help each patient improve their overall health by promoting excellent oral hygiene and providing gentle, thorough care.
Outside of work, she enjoys cooking, meditation, hiking, and relaxing with her husband while watching TV shows. She is also a proud mother—her daughter is a respiratory therapist practicing at Stanford Hospital in California.
Eleni
Office Manager
Eleni joined the team in 2023 as an office administrator and worked her way up to office manager two years later. She earned her medical assistant degree in 2017 and worked as a medical assistant for 5 years. During that time she started to enjoy more administrative duties and helping at the front desk.
In her spare time she enjoys hiking and travelling with her husband, Anthony. She recently got a German shepherd, Freya that takes up plenty of her time!
Jean
Office Administrator
Jean is our newest staff member, she joined the practice in November of 2024. Prior to this she worked as a patient care coordinator in the optometry field for 8+ years.
In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends attending musicals and concerts. When not attending an event, Jean can be found shopping at antique, consignment, and/or vinyl record shops.
